About domains and DNS
What is a registrar?
The organization through which users register domain names.
Updated: October 9, 2026
A registrar accepts domain registrations, renewals, and transfers from users. It works with a registry to submit registrations under supported top-level domains.
In NetKarte
Enter the domain in Domain Information Lookup, complete verification, and search. Look for Registrar and Registrar IANA ID in the registration information.
NetKarte reads the name and IANA ID from an RDAP entity with the registrar role or matching fields published by an official registry WHOIS service. Fields that are not published are omitted instead of being shown as empty rows.
Registrar and registry
The registry operates the top-level-domain database, while the registrar is the user's registration channel. They need not be the same organization.
When the name differs from your seller
A reseller accepting your order may differ from the registrar working with the registry. An unfamiliar name does not alone prove an unauthorized transfer; check your contract email or management portal.
Confirm the registered domain, then read registrar, IANA ID, status, and expiry. The ID identifies an organization; it is not a quality score. Country-code domains may not publish the same fields.
Contact your contractual provider for renewal, transfer, or corrections. NetKarte reads public information and cannot change a registration or extend its expiry.
