About browsers and devices
What is JavaScript?
JavaScript's role on the web and in NetKarte diagnostics.
Updated: October 9, 2026
JavaScript adds calculations and interactive behavior to web pages. ECMAScript defines the language; browsers also provide Web APIs for tasks such as display and storage access.
Why one feature can fail while JavaScript is enabled
Language features, Web APIs, and external script loading are separate. Diagnostics can run while traffic to Turnstile is blocked. Conversely, seeing a server-rendered article does not prove JavaScript executed.
What NetKarte's display establishes
Check JavaScript in NetKarte's Browser card. The initial server-rendered display says Disabled; it changes to Enabled when NetKarte's client code runs in the browser.
Enabled establishes that this client code ran. It is independent of whether individual browser, screen, or storage values were retrieved successfully, so check each feature's result separately. If Disabled remains, scripting may be disabled in the browser, but loading may also be incomplete or a script may have failed to load or run. This display alone cannot distinguish the cause.
Narrow down the failing feature
- Check whether diagnostic values were actually collected.
- See whether inputs and buttons respond or only one feature fails.
- Review per-site script permissions, extensions, and organizational policy.
You do not need to disable all protections. Consult your administrator for managed-device restrictions. NetKarte's basic browser diagnostics do not request camera or microphone permission. External-service communication and consent settings are explained separately in the privacy policy.
